Scrap Metal is a crafting material that can be obtained by chance during armor crafting in Armor Smithing. It is used to craft a 30-day Crafted Bag in Leatherworking.

Crafting chances
When crafting Elite and Imperial armor in Armor Smithing, the 100% crafting value is divided by 3 and there is a chance of obtaining an armor, a rune slot opened version of the same armor, and one Scrap Metal, and the total chance values of these three are 100%. In the table below, you can see the chances of obtaining Scrap Metal at which Armor Smithing level.

Patch changes
